Definition
Counting cadence
The planned interval and scope for repeating physical inventory counts, weekly full counts, daily high-value cycle counts, or another documented rhythm.
Worked example
A 180-SKU bar that takes 45 minutes with barcode counting chooses a full count every Sunday after close, plus a Wednesday cycle count of the top 20 well and call spirits. The cadence is written: Sunday = all liquor rooms; Wednesday = high-velocity subset only; both use the same fill-level rules.
When operators use this
Write the cadence before you argue about software. Most casual bars and pubs can finish a liquor well weekly once the route is short. Clubs and late rooms should pick the night the closer can still stand. inventory cadence and how often should bars count inventory own the calendar. inventory period is the window inside each cycle.
Common mistakes
Comparing a Wednesday rail spot-check to last month's full room count is how teams invent theft. Skipping a playoff week and then judging the next full count against a quiet Tuesday does the same. Label partial counts. Keep the route identical when the interval stays the same.
How ExactPour handles it
ExactPour keeps count history per location with who counted and when, so a weekly cadence is visible and comparable. Faster barcode + fill-level entry is what makes a tight cadence realistic instead of aspirational.
Qualification
Higher frequency can improve detection speed but also increases labor and exposure to estimation noise. Partial counts must not be compared to full counts as if scope matched.
